VCAT Training – Notice to Vacate & Arrears Management (via Zoom)
1.5 Hour Session | This can be delivered online via Zoom only

In this 90 minute training session, we will delve into two crucial aspects of property management: VCAT notices and arrears management. By the end of this session, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to navigate VCAT notices effectively and manage arrears professionally.

We’ll start by exploring VCAT notices, focusing on understanding what VCAT is, the various types of notices to vacate, the legal grounds for issuing such notices, the required documentation for each notice, the correct summary of proofs, and the required notice periods. We will also delve into the proper procedures for serving notices to renters and discuss renters rights and responsibilities.

Next, we’ll transition to arrears management, beginning with an explanation of what arrears are and why they are important to address promptly. We will then explore proactive strategies and best practices for preventing arrears, emphasizing the significance of effective communication with renters when arrears occur. Legal procedures for addressing arrears will be covered, along with an overview of how VCAT plays a role in arrears resolution.

We will also discuss the reasonable and proportionate test and will include some suggested wording for some common notices and applications.

Throughout the training, participants will need to have their cameras and microphones on and are encouraged to ask questions and actively engage in discussions to ensure a thorough understanding of these critical property management topics. By the end of this session, you will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to handle VCAT notices and arrears management confidently in your property management responsibilities.
